A Kyalami resident recently discovered a guinea fowl caught in a snare in Helderfontein. Sadly it was too late for the guinea fowl, who died shortly after being freed. Snares are a threat and a danger to wildlife and also to pets, who can get caught when roaming. They are often left unchecked for days by the people who set them, which can result in prolonged suffering for animals caught in them.
Check your property regularly for any snares, particularly around perimeter fencing. It is also worthwhile getting together with other residents and doing snare clean-ups in your wider area.
